Recognizing Mid-Century Modern on the Screen

It’s amazing how much I notice Mid-Century Modern furniture on the sets of TV shows since I started working here. For instance last night I was watching Elementary. I noticed a piece that I could not name, well looking back at my pictures of Mid-Century furniture I believe it was the Saarinen Executive Arm Chair, Lucy Lu was sitting on it while viewing her laptop and the womb chair by originally marketed by Knoll in 1948. The designer of the Womb Chair is Eero Saarinen. Another other show that utilizes the Bertoia Style Chair is Parenthood. Parenthood designers picked out four of these types of chairs.
When I first started here there was a commercial that displayed a Blue Plastic Molded Rocker. It was one of those commercials in which they show you many sequential images at a time. I can’t remember for the life of me what product they were advertising. Not knowing has been bugging me for months. Oh well, I will remember sooner or later.
Recently a designer from a TV show purchased one of our Tulip Tables. I am not going to say which one, but it is a sitcom with the preface is that aliens have come to earth to live among a community of people. Another show that featured the style of Mid-Century Modern was the latest Big Brother season 15.
Working here is much like noticing someone’s style of car that you like; or even your own. All of a sudden you see them wherever you go. Can anyone out there name other current or recent TV shows or movies that display this type of furniture? Let’s see if we can come up with a list and I will list all the movies and shows that everyone else points out. In order to be able to leave your comments you have to create an account. I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
