While you may be just as capable as any other in assembling furniture or you may actually enjoy the task, you still may have reasons for not wanting to. Instead of ordering your furniture and having it sit in a box in your home for a number of weeks until you can get to it, why not just hire someone to do it for you? I am sure you have better things to do, right? Well it is nice to know you have options when the need arises. This information is good to have handy for when the time comes and you do need assembly done and you don’t have the time or energy to get it done.

It is time to get out there and find the job that is waiting for you in the field of Interior Design. Granted you may not live in an area where there is a lot of Interior Design work as easily accessible as some of the bigger cities, but where there is a will, there is a way…always. You can start out helping friends, neighbors, and the elderly. You may start out helping by aiding them toss out what they don’t need and organize for them. This is especially needed in the elderly community because they don’t have the movement capabilities that they once did. They will be so grateful that they are sure to tell others about you.

In his book, "How to Live in Small Spaces," by Terence Conan, Terence gives practical spatial ideas that work. In the first half of his book he speaks about space planning subject. Terence starts off with a checklist of lifestyle questions to ask yourself such as if you have visitors often, whether or not you work from home, if you have an accumulation of books, a lot of practical information to sort through and think about before designing ever comes into play. He then goes into clutter reducing strategies and reasoning. He teaches you step by step how to make a floor plan, space plan, elevations, sketches, planning and building storage.

Here at EZmod Furniture we want to salute those great Interior Designers that really give their decorated rooms the treatment you deserve. It not only takes a great sense of style but a lot of enthusiasm for the finished product. Interior Designers are paid to take the headache of it all away. Who has the time and energy to decorate and do it flawlessly? Many people can play it safe with designing with whites and neutrals in the walls and fabrics. It takes the extra nerve and fortitude to break out of the safety of the unknown. The real talent shows when color, texture, furniture, lighting, accessories and materials are utilized to create a cohesive look.

This weekend I had a little extra time. I intended to go to the library and pick up some books and it was closed so I went to Barnes and Noble instead. I found this book that was very colorful and interesting. The book is called Decorate Workshop by Holly Becker. I particularly was drawn to this book because it was special and unlike any other design book that I have seen. Holly Becker actually speaks from her heart and writes as if she is speaking to a friend.

This last weekend I was visiting my niece in Orange County, California. I had an extra 45 minutes to kill so my party and I stopped in at the Goodwill. I was amazed at all the nice things they had. Finding great items depends on when and where you go, it is a gamble, but the chance to find something that you want or need is what makes bargain shopping fun.

Designing your space is an art not to be taken lightly. People go to school for years in order to be properly equipped to handle coordination of furniture, fabrics, style, color, and architecture. Education is really an introduction into the realm of Interior Design. There also needs to be years of successful design experience before you are considered to be a professional. California offers a state exam for the added assurance for customers that they are getting an experienced and licensed designer.
