Okay it is time to make design just a little more interesting. I found a design website that as a marketing tool allows people to enter design contests. This particular one was open to anyone. The informal design competition was on designshuffle.com.

This is a very exciting time for design enthusiasts. There is so much information readily at your disposal. In order to shop you no longer have to waste your time and energy shopping, wasting your gas, or dealing with those nasty parking meters and parking garages that charge so high. These days all you need is computer access to shop effectively for your home and practically anything you would want. You can easily shop from the comfort of your own home for furnishings, paint colors, fabric, and accessories. The trick is knowing where and how to find your resources, not too hard, right?

In order to get a head start in the field of Interior Design it is crucial to get your foot in the door as soon as you can while going to school. The field is not only competitive but can be intimidating because the job is considered glamorous. You don’t necessarily have to have all the skills that you may think are needed right away.

This year Neocon is being held at the Merchandise Mart, Chicago Illinois. The Pre-Registration deadline is today June 3rd. Neocon is from Monday June 105h – Wednesday June 12th and goes on from 9-5. The exhibits feature resources in accessories, architectural products, building products and services, ceiling systems, casegoods, files and storage, floor coverings, furniture, lighting, seating, stone and ceramic tile, sustainable products, technology, textiles, and wall treatments.

Designers have invested their time and money in order to design as a profession. This means that they have an innate interest in aesthetics and personal reasons for pursuing a design career. When a person invests that much time and money into something you know they are going to put their best efforts forward in order to serve you, the client.

We are on our way to becoming like the Jetson’s in our home, not that it is a bad thing. Technology makes things easier and more efficient. Hunter Douglas has motorized blinds and window shades and has had them for years. This technology is great for people with mobility issues.

Everything we do and surround ourselves has an effect on us. Whether it is people, or substances, sometimes it is good to rethink our habits and replace them with healthier habits. I too have to take this advice. Today there is more and more talk about toxicity in the items we use. Many resources today such as TV, magazines, and blogs, speak to this. What we clean with can have lasting consequences on our health. The reason I am waking up to this knowledge is I wondered if somehow I contributed to my cat’s cancer. I recalled using Lysol and beach a lot to clean up after her. She stayed primarily in my room the last year of her life. I looked online to find that Lysol was very toxic to animals. Well yea, they are closest to the ground and their paws directly touch the surfaces we clean with these cleaners.
