For some truly innovative modern classic furniture designs, look no farther than Verner Panton. Born in Denmark in 1926, Panton first studied architecture in Odense, then later at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen. After spending a few years working in established design firms, Panton decided to go it alone and opened his very own design shop in 1952. With nobody else to answer to but himself, Panton became quite well known for his daring new designs. Of particular note, Panton designed a collapsible house in 1955, as well as houses made of either cardboard or plastic in 1960.

Traditionally, ottomans have mostly been just a good place to put your feet up while you relax and read a book, take a nap or catch up on your favorite television programs. Typically, ottomans are almost an afterthought: they are made to match or compliment some sort of lounge chair. Modern classic furniture designers, however, have recognized the potential of ottomans in recent years and have designed ottomans that not only stand on their own (four) feet, but are also versatile and multi-functional.

Few modern furniture designers have earned the fame and recognition of Marcel Breuer. His experiments with modular construction and furniture reduced to its basic elements provided the foundation for generations of later modern classic furniture designers. Born in Hungary in 1902, Breuer both studied and taught fine arts, manufacturing and even industrial design at the prestigious Bauhaus school in Germany throughout the 1920s.
Perhaps the most famous of Breuer’s modern furniture designs is the “Wassily” chair. First designed in 1925, this unique chair is constructed of a tubular steel frame with essentially leather straps to provide the seat, backrest and even arm rests. There is a misconception that the chair gets its name because Breuer designed it for famed painter Wassily Kandinsky, but it is not the actual case. Kandinsky saw some early prototypes of the chair and so admired them that Breuer made a copy for Kandinsky to keep. When the chair was reproduced in the 1960s by an Italian furniture manufacturer, the name “Wassily” was given to the chair and it stuck. German-Austrian furniture manufacturer Thonet was actually the first company to manufacture Breuer’s ground-breaking modern design. The original versions of the Wassily chair actually included fabric straps in place of the leather that is more popular today.
The simple materials and refined form of Breuer’s Wassily chair made it an obvious choice for mass production. Up until the 1920s most, if not all, furniture for a home or office was carved and constructed by the hand of a skilled craftsman. Mass production technology in the 1920s was made popular and refined by auto manufacturers such as the Ford Motor Company. Technological advances such as the seamless steel tube made Breuer’s Wassily possible as constructing the same chair with seams in the tubing would have given the chair several weak spots and made it much less sturdy.
EZ Mod Furniture is proud to offer high-quality reproductions of modern classic furniture designs such as Breuer’s Wassily chair. Built with sturdy black bonded leather, this chair is sure to become a striking accent to any living room or office. EZ Mod Furniture also offers this modern classic icon in a brown and brass color scheme to better suit any room. And while most modern furniture retailers would offer this beautiful chair for $550, EZ Mod Furniture saves you hundreds of dollars by offering it at just $275. Check out the rest of EZ Mod Furniture’s modern classic furniture collection and save money on the modern style you want.

If you are looking for the perfect place to sit back, relax and read a good book or take in a great movie, look no farther than EZ Mod Furniture’s wide selection of modern classic lounge chairs. Whether you are a fan of modern classic furniture designers such as Charles and Ray Eames, Finnish American Designer Eero Saarinen, renowned Swiss-French modern furniture pioneer Le Corbusier or newer contributors to the modern furniture landscape, EZ Mod Furniture can help you find a lounge chair that is the perfect mix of comfort and style.
Le Corbusier’s lounge chair is a perfect example of the modern classic furniture design aesthetic. A champion of clean, almost austere lines, Le Corbusier’s version of the lounge chair features a mostly metal frame with stainless steel accents. To provide the necessary comfort, the chair is covered in a simple, elegant long black pad with a simple neck roll for support to the head. EZ Mod Furniture carries this streamlined classic in either black or white top-grain leather or brown and white genuine pony hide.
Danish designer Poul M. Volther’s contributions to modern classic furniture design add an interesting look to the traditional chaise lounge. In a more space-age take on the lounge chair, Volther’s design, called the Corona Petal chair, features a series of four plushly padded ovals that look almost as though they are hovering in mid-air. The ovals are supported, however, by a chrome steel base, as is the matching ottoman. This chair is upholstered in lush velour micro fiber and EZ Mod Furniture offers it in red or black to fit the color scheme of any room.
One lounge chair that has come to be iconic of classic mid-20th century modern furniture design is the Eaze Lounge chair by American furniture design giants Charles and Ray Eames. Supported by a molded plywood frame with a walnut wood veneer, this comfortable and stylish chair and matching ottoman features plush black Italian leather-covered pads for comfort you can really sink into. Both the chair and ottoman also swivel.
EZ Mod Furniture strives to provide high quality modern classic furniture reproductions at prices that are budget friendly. The Eames-inspired Eaze Lounge chair would easily cost you $2,100 at other modern furniture retailers, but EZ Mod offers it for hundreds of dollars less at just $839. The 20th century was a time of great innovation. Scientists throughout the century were continually finding uses for new materials, inventing new technological processes for manufacturing and finding out more and more about the human body. Along with all this technical innovation, came dramatic changes in art, architecture and even furniture design. New applications for materials such as plastics made them usable in modern furniture design. Metalwork made more frequent appearances in living rooms, offices and even bedrooms than ever before. And technological innovations involving the molding of plywood made things possible with wood furniture that would have been impossible in the prior century, even with the most skilled craftsmen. Two designers whose modern classic furniture designs stand head and shoulders above the rest are Charles and Ray Eames.
Married in 1941, this prolific pair, along with fellow giants of modern furniture design Harry Bertoia and Eero Saarinen, helped invent a process involving the molding of plywood splints in the 1940s that would form the basis for molded plywood furniture. Molded furniture made quite a splash in the design world and went on to become some of the most popular modern furniture in the mid-20th century. The molded plywood side chairs designed by the Eameses became so popular, in fact, that they were added to the permanent collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
EZ Mod Furniture is proud to offer high-quality reproductions of several of the Eamses’ modern classic furniture designs, including several molded plywood chairs. Made of cherry plywood, these modern classic design masterpieces feature rubber shock mounts to protect the wooden chair against jarring movements and keep the structure from becoming too brittle. Designed and contoured to fit the human body perfectly, these chairs offer durability and comfort whether they are used as accent chairs or dining chairs in your home or office. EZ Mod Furniture even offers these beautiful chairs with luxurious genuine black and white or brown and white pony hide covers on the seat and backrest for an added splash of style. A stylish and sturdy modern classic piece such as this would cost as much as $360 at other modern furniture retailers, but EZ Mod Furniture carries this gem for just $235—saving you well over $100.
If you are looking for great modern classic furniture to fill your home or office, EZ Mod Furniture will be your first and last stop for high quality and low prices.

Who doesn’t love a good rocking chair? Something about the rhythmic motion has an unparalleled ability to quickly put us at ease and relax. In fact, the only thing that most rocking chairs lack is a little bit of style. Most rocking chairs today are made from wood, many of them padded in various ways, and some even “glide” back and forth on sealed ball bearing mechanisms. Most of them look padded and comfy—perfect for a nursery. But what if you want a grown up rocking chair for just you--something, perhaps with more of a modern classic design? Look no farther than EZ Mod Furniture’s molded plastic rocking chairs.
Painstakingly reproduced from the original designs by renowned modern furniture design team Charles and Ray Eames, this rocking chair offers some much-needed design updates to an old favorite. The Eameses married in 1941 and quickly set up their own design studio in Venice, California. As some of the most famous modern furniture designers, their creations were known for clean, structured lines and the innovative use of materials. Originally constructed of a fiberglass curved shell, EZ Mod Furniture has even updated the manufacturing process of this wonderful chair by constructing it out of recycled polypropylene. The contoured shell is supported by an attractive framework of chrome steel tubing and attached to solid ash wood pieces for a smooth rocking motion. The seat features a “waterfall” edge to correctly accommodate the angle of your knees and legs, as well as molded armrests and a high, comfortable back. EZ Mod Furniture features this icon of modern classic furniture design in four cheerful colors to match any room’s color scheme: red, green, white and light blue, all in a matte finish. Unlike rocking chairs with upholstered padding, the simplicity of the design, construction and materials of the Eames rocker makes it exceptionally easy to clean. Simply wipe with a wet cloth.
EZ Mod Furniture not only brings you quality reproductions of a modern classic item such as the Eames molded plastic rocking chair, but they do so at price that won’t bust your budget. While many modern furniture retailers would sell this rocking chair for as much as $380, EZ Mod Furniture offers it at the much more budget-friendly price point of just $159.99. If you are looking for high quality reproductions of some of modern furniture design’s most exciting pieces at prices you can afford, look no farther than EZ Mod Furniture.

Few furniture designers have had as lasting an impact on modern furniture design as Charles and Ray Eames. Their collaboration on everything from architecture to office furniture to lounge chairs has produced some of modern furniture design’s most well-known pieces. Married in 1941, the couple set up their own design studio in Venice, California and eventually designed and built their own home in collaboration with another giant of modern furniture design, Eero Saarinen, in the Pacific Palisades, just a few miles from their design shop. The house stands to this day and has even been designated a National Historic Landmark.
Charles and Ray Eames were known for their innovation and utter departure from more traditional furniture designs and manufacturing. Technical innovations in the world of metals, woods and plastic in the mid-20th century inspired many of their modern classic furniture designs. Plastic, while first invented in 1855, really came into its own in the 1950s and 1960s as scientists and inventors modified its chemical structure and created new uses for it. Plastic was everywhere in the mid-20th century as scientists invented plastics from synthetic materials that could form plastic eating utensils, Saran Wrap, Tupperware and, finally, even furniture. One piece that is typical the Eamses’ style as well as their fascination with plastic’s new possibilities is the Eiffel chairs sold by EZ Mod Furniture. These modern classic chairs are constructed of a molded plastic shell atop a framework of high-shine chrome steel that is reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. The molded plastic shell is curved to be comfortable for sitting on, even without any type of padded cushion. The simplicity of the Eiffel chairs makes them a functional as well as stylish addition to any dining room, living room or office. EZ Mod Furniture makes these icons of modern furniture design in either black or white matte plastic and adds black floor protectors to the bottom of each of the four legs to protect your hardwood floors from being scratched. And where most modern classic furniture retailers would sell these icons of modern furniture design for as much as $260, EZ Mod Furniture carries them for just $159.99, saving you $100 on each chair.
If you are looking for modern classic furniture for your home or office, the choice is clear: EZ Mod Furniture has the modern classic style you want at the prices you can afford.
