In the early sixties, the danish designer Verner Panton together with the Vitra realised an idea which had preoccupied him for many years by producing a plastic chair from a single molding. In 1967, the panton chair went into mass production. It was immediately regarded as a sensation and won many awards. One of the first chairs is exhibited in the museum of modern art, new york, today the panton chair belongs to the classics of modern furniture design.

The Panton Style S Chair is as much a piece of art as it is a functional piece of furniture. Though its look is statuesque, this chair is surprisingly comfortable and works great paired with a dining table, or as occasional seating in any room of the home or office. The Panton Style S Chair is made of strong, durable ABS plastic. The integral organic shape creates flowing lines, without any break between the functional elements of backrest, seat or leg.

As the reproduction of the original, our Panton Style S Chair will definitely add a classic retro modern feel to your environment.

About Verner Panton

Verner Panton, (13 February 1926 – 5 September 1998) is considered one of Denmark's most influential 20th-century furniture and interior designers. During his career, he created innovative and futuristic designs in a variety of materials, especially plastics, and in vibrant colors.

Panton was trained as an architectural engineer in Odense; next, he studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Art (Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi) in Copenhagen, graduating in 1951. After he started his own design and architectural office, Panton became well known for his innovative architectural proposals, including a collapsible house (1955), the Cardboard House and the Plastic House (1960). Near the end of the 1950s, his chair designs became more and more unconventional, with no legs or discernible back. In 1960 Panton was the designer of the very first single-form injection-moulded plastic chair. The Stacking chair or S chair, which would become his most famous and mass-produced design.
